Regular production of all models in the Woodsman line ended in 1977, but in the mid 1980s Colt decided to make a special run of S frame pistols called the "S Master." They had 400 frames, all Huntsman marked, and fitted them with the parts to build up complete guns. They then added a very attractive gold wash pattern on the slide, and a velvet lined, French fitted walnut case with a brass plaque marked "1 of 400." They all have the Eliason Match Target rear sight, and automatic slide stop.
